How We Do It

Our Method

The Basics of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, and soften creases, or enhance facial contours. Over the past few decades, several types of dermal fillers have gained popularity, each with its unique properties, longevity, and texture.

Common Types of Fillers

  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA): A naturally occurring substance in our skin, HA fillers (like Juvederm and Restylane) can hydrate and volumize the skin.
  • Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA): Found naturally in our bones, fillers like Radiesse use micron-sized CaHA spheres suspended in a gel to restore volume and stimulate collagen production.
  • Poly-L-lactic Acid: A biocompatible synthetic substance, Sculptra Aesthetic works by stimulating the skin’s natural collagen production.
  • Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA): A semi-permanent filler option, Bellafill uses PMMA microspheres suspended in a collagen gel to offer structure and volume.

Benefits of Dermal Fillers

  • Immediate Results: Most fillers produce visible results immediately post-treatment.
  • Short Downtime: The majority of filler treatments allow patients to return to day-to-day activities straight away.
  • Longevity: Depending on the product used, results can last anywhere from 6 months to over 2 years.
  • Collagen Stimulation: Some fillers stimulate the body’s natural collagen production, enhancing the skin’s texture and elasticity over time.
  • Versatility: They can be used across various facial areas, including cheeks, lips, jawline, and around the eyes.

Dermal Fillers: Sculpting Beauty, One Syringe at a Time

    Introduction

For those seeking a subtle lift, volume enhancement, or a smoother facade without resorting to surgery, dermal fillers have emerged as a beacon of hope. These gel-like substances, injected beneath the skin, have changed the face of cosmetic treatments, quite literally. Let’s navigate the transformative journey of dermal fillers.

    The Essence of Fillers

Dermal fillers are biocompatible materials that are strategically injected to restore lost volume, smoothen wrinkles, or enhance facial features such as the lips. They can be derived from various sources, but most commonly from hyaluronic acid—a substance naturally found in our skin.

    • Cheek Enhancement: To restore lost volume or provide a lifted appearance.
    • Lip Augmentation: Enhancing lip volume and defining the border.
    • Nasolabial Folds: Softening the lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth.
    • Marionette Lines: Addressing the lines that run from the mouth’s corners down to the chin.
    • Jawline & Chin: Refining and contouring to provide a sharper, more defined look.

    Beyond Aesthetics: Medical Uses

Interestingly, dermal fillers also find utility in treating some medical conditions:

    • Acne scars
    • Hollowed eyes or temples
    • Hand rejuvenation

    Treatment Nuances

    • Duration: A session can last from 15 minutes to an hour, based on the areas treated.
    • Longevity of Results: Depending on the filler type, results can last from 6 months up to 2 years or more.
    • Non-permanent: Most fillers are biodegradable, meaning they’ll gradually be absorbed by the body.
    • Expertise Matters: It’s paramount to have treatments by certified practitioners to ensure safety and achieve desired results.

    Potential Side Effects

Though dermal fillers are largely safe, potential side effects include:

    • Temporary redness, pain, or swelling at the injection site
    • Bruising
    • Lumps or bumps
    • Rarely, allergic reactions or infections

    Conclusion

Dermal fillers have ushered in an era where age is truly just a number, and facial harmony can be achieved without the scalpel. As innovations continue to refine these treatments, the future of facial aesthetics looks promising, with dermal fillers leading the charge.
